About Us

Power transmission lines are an intrusion on the natural world, but they are essential to support our current lifestyles. There are alternate routes for PPL’s Sugarloaf Valley project that would substantially lessen the impact on our community.
Who we are
We are a group of concerned residents, advocates and community members dedicated to raising awareness, protecting our valley, and stopping this destructive project.
What is happening?
PPL is proposing a 500kV double circuit power line that would cut through the heart of Sugarloaf Valley, impacting Nescopeck, Sugarloaf, and Prospect Park. This project threatens to destroy homes, properties, and the natural beauty of our Valley - turning it into an industrial zone.
Are power lines harmful?
Potentially, power lines can cause:
Loss of homes and property
Devastation of the environment
Health risks from high-voltage lines and EMFs absorbed by the body
Permanent damage to the beauty and character of the Valley.
High-voltage transmission lines are found throughout the world. Their impact on the environment and the human body have been studied for years, and the research is mixed on the topic. However, the findings in academic research are clear: EMF exposure, especially when in proximity to humans, has detrimental effects. Read below to learn more.
We encourage you to learn as much about high-voltage transmission lines, their effect on human health, LERTAs, and all the contributing details regarding the Sugarloaf Valley PPL project. Don’t rely on one source - trust, then VERIFY!
